Well, we’re a whole third of the way through the year already. Our month started with a three course posho meal followed by a dance routine and strip tease done by West Mercia Search and Rescue. They didn’t leave their hats on.
Crochet
Once again I feel like I haven’t had a very creative month
and then I look back on Instagram and I’ve done loads. In April I made, fixed,
or finished:
·
All of my blankets and cushion covers had their
spring wash
·
I made two mice
·
A pair of woollen wristwarmers as a gift for a
colleague
·
Attempted teeny tiny micro crochet
·
Made lots more granny squares
·
Did more rows on the new blanket project
·
Pattern tested for a lady on Instagram and made
a chunky crochet decorative tray
·
Played with the glue gun and made a crappy
spring wreath
Craft club was good, slightly lower numbers as it was Good
Friday but still a decent turn out.
Allotment
I have cut my first lot of herbs to dry and they’re hanging
up in my shed on the hook racks I put up earlier this year. I have sown more
parsnip, carrot, radish, and spring onion – so I shall be utterly overrun with
them this year all being well! The pear tree has blossom for the first time,
but I don’t think the almond will have much fruit on. It’s really suffering
with peach leaf curl so I might need to remove it and burn it next winter.
Exercise
I started hula hooping because I’ve been feeling really crappy
and lethargic again, and then I started a period that lasted for 22 days. I really
need to learn to listen to my body. I am still going for a one mile walk every
morning when I’m at the office.
Work
I have been working on a huge project and getting trained up
in lots of areas, so that’s good.
Mental Health
Not been great, but I have been bleeding for most of April
so ya know.
Cat Life
He is still here and still floofy and still a pooperton.
Physical Health
I really need to put my mind into getting more active this
year. I did start going on the exercise bike too, but that lasted all of three
days.
Money
Had a payrise! Wahoo! Still negative £75 by the time
everything has gone out, though.
Garden
Is looking really REALLY good. The big bed is filling out
nicely and I’ve counted 86 out of 88 gladioli. I dug an extension bit and
planted 9 peonies and a forsythia shrub, as well as some donated things from
Momma P. I go out in the evenings and do about 5 minutes of weeding and pulling
up clumps of grass and I’m slowly getting on top of it. T’is the season for
pulling up balsam seedlings before they flower.
I started 10 varieties of squash, gourd, and pumpkin in 24
pots. More is more? The sunflowers have been slugged and the liatris will take
over the world.
Other Stuff
I spent the easter weekend cleaning the lounge carpets, v exciting
and also v gross. It was like pouring chocolate milk down the drain.
We had a food parcel from the village hall which comprised
of a plate of cake.
I made dandelion syrup and I shall never make it again...!
