2023 – A Year In Crochet

I try to write an annual summary of all the things that I have made during the year. You can read 2022 HERE [click] and that blog post also contains links to the previous years.

I changed jobs in 2022 and I changed jobs again in 2023. I hope to not change jobs in 2024, but I did start the Quatt Craft Group in Dec 2022 (we’ve just had our first birthday wooo) and I also wanted 2023 to be a good making year.

It has been a good making year.

A VERY good making year.

In the 2019 blog post I wrote “I need to finish the Willendorf Venus I started in 2018”. Guess what I sorted out just last week to finish (and haven’t actually picked up yet??) – maybe 2024 will be the year I finish her.

I will try and list everything with links to the patterns also.

You can follow my crochet fun on instagram HERE and also see my etsy shop HERE

I have also darned my socks, his socks, my jumper, and my gloves several times this year. And remade pompoms for multiple hats.

And now for the list of things I started but haven’t yet finished!! These are things that I will hopefully/likely finish in 2024

1.       Pink ombre diamond waffle stitch blanket

2.       Kayak for adventure mouse

3.       Pigs in blankets. Always an ongoing project

4.       Hoopoe

5.       Big dolly

6.       Microcrochet praying mantis

And the list of things I intended to start but haven’t yet but need to:

1.       Goats. Lots and lots of goats. I have ten so far that I need to make.

I ended the 2022 Summary blog with a list of things I wanted to make in 2023 and I still have the same list on my phone. I have ticked off…. 3 out of 21! Such an over achiever. I have made 65 finished items this year and have six active projects, so I’d say that’s not bad going. Especially given that I changed jobs and went back to full time work.

Next year I want to learn mosaic crochet, I wanted to do it this year but didn’t have enough brain time to commit to it. 2024 will be the year of mosaic crochet. And finishing things from 2023 (or 2018).

I think this has officially been my most prolific crocheting year yet since records began (in 2015)!
