Allotment Life: A Proper Winters Day

A short, quick blast up to the allotment today to feed the fox, feed the birds, and break the ice on the water tubs. It is important to make sure birds and other animals have access to drinking water as well as food.

I have grand plans for Big Jobs on the allotment this winter, but this week and today I just cannot be bothered. I have lots of other stuff to get done for the weekend, so the allotment is on the back burner.

It does look good with a frost though, and (I am biased) it is still one of the tidiest plots on the site. The sprouts are still tiny (thanks, heatwave) but are nearly ready to be picked as some are starting to open. The garlics are starting to poke up through, and the onions are still under frozen fleece where they will remain until February or March time.
